The new module promises up to 10 percent reduced CPU utilization when gaming and 40 percent faster transfer rates while consuming only 70 percent the power of an 802.11ac WLAN module.
Killer WLAN modules are commonly associated with high-end or enthusiast gaming laptops including those from MSI and Dell. Unlike the more basic Intel 8260 or 9260 WLAN modules, however, the Killer solution integrates several gaming-centric features that hardcore gamers can appreciate. Many of these features are covered in our review of the last generation Killer 1535 here.
The upcoming Killer AX1650 is set to succeed the current Killer 1550 by introducing Wi-Fi 6 enhancements and a host of software updates. Aside from the bump in raw transfer rates of up to 2.4 Gbps, the module is capable of reducing latency by 3x in a crowded WLAN environment, pausing inactive processes when gaming to reduce CPU and RAM usage, and automatically optimizing performance based on network traffic.
Last generation features are returning as well including Killer xTend for mesh networking and DoubleShot Pro for even faster network speeds via simultaneous use of both wireless and traditional RJ-45.
The Killer AX1650 will make its debut on the Alienware Area-51m, Alienware m17, and Alienware m15 with MSI laptops likely to follow thereafter. A notable exception is Asus as none of its ROG laptops are shipping with any Killer options as of this writing.
Tym razem na czym będzie bazować na intelu? na czym będzie polegać te 2,4gbit?
